Intel has saved online gamblers from getting scammed again. Recently, in response to intelligence from the JTG Criminal Intelligence section, members of the Kuruman Public Order Police unit pounced on five male suspects who were discovered in possession of non-legal gaming machines.
The five accused reportedly moved the illicit gambling equipment from Johannesburg to Kuruman in a vehicle on March 4, 2023. On spotting the truck at a petrol station in Kagung, the police halted its movement near Bosman Street in Kuruman.
154 coin inserters, 12 hoppers, 63 gaming machines, 152 gaming machine speakers, and 9 motherboards —all of which were illegal—were found after the police began searching the truck. The items that were seized have an estimated value of R439 000,000.
