In accordance with Kenya Kwanza’s Bottom-Up Economic Development Strategy, President William Ruto has issued a call to duty to 27 members to help supervise the construction of the national lottery (BETA).
William Ruto outlined the rationale for starting the lottery scheme in a message from the President. He emphasized that the scheme would assist the government in increasing income to provide its residents with better effective governance and reduce excessive taxation.
In briefing members of the public on the President’s appointment, Felix Koskei, Head of Public Service, championed this narrative: “To harness the collective synergies among the public in being part of the solution through participating in a national lottery whose proceeds will contribute towards good causes and the amelioration of the plight of persons in need, William Samoei Ruto, has appointed a Presidential Task Force on the establishment of a National Lottery which shall be structured in two tiers, namely; the Steering Committee and the Technical Committee.”
Although the presidential task group was intended to run its course for three months, not lengthy, they started earlier than anticipated. The first month’s proceeds from the national lottery program were purposefully kept back in the Sports and Social Development sector to boost it even more.
