Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe said the lottery and gaming industry’s outmoded regulations would be amended by the end of the year to update technological improvements.
He went on to say that Zimbabwe will regulate online betting after steps to combat rampant money laundering in the lottery and gaming industries are put in place.
LGB is in charge of overseeing and supervising the gambling sector in Zimbabwe. Kazembe proposed that the LGB revise the Lotteries and Gaming Act, which was signed into law in 2000 by the end of 2022.
According to LGB chairperson Eugenia Chidhakwa, the existing Lotteries and Gaming Act is ambiguous on subjects such as partnership and foreign participation.
As punters seek to overcome economic issues, there has recently been a surge in interest in gaming and gambling in Zimbabwe.
