888 Holdings’ aspirations to create 888AFRICA as a joint venture operation, expanding the FTSE250 company’s foothold in “certain regulated African countries,” have been implemented.
Holdings have formed a joint venture called 888Africa with five other industry experts. This new company will run 888 brands in regulated online betting and gaming markets across Africa.
888 announced that it would run online sports betting and iGaming brands in select regulated African countries. It has agreed to take a minority position in 888Africa, a joint venture that will run its brands throughout the area. 888 has the potential to grow its shareholding to 100% in the future.
The joint venture comprises several notable figures, three of whom previously worked for The Stars Group, to help launch (TSG). Former chief marketing and customer officer Christopher Coyne, former managing director of sportsbook Andrew Lee, and former sportsbook trading director Ian Marmion are among those who have left the company. The chairman of Voxbet is presently Lee.
