Tanzania’s Gaming Board has set the record straight about rights to offer gambling licenses in the country. This was triggered by other bodies allegedly trying to issue licenses to gaming operators. These bodies include other government authorities issuing licenses and permits to gaming operators. This is an outright violation of Tanzania’s Gaming Act No.4 2003. The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) is aimed at championing integrity and transparency for the licensed betting industry. In 2021, IBIA exposed 236 illegal betting activities to the authorities concerned. 69 illegal betting activities were reported in the fourth quarter while 65 were reported in the third quarter. The Gaming boards of Tanzania have taken a drastic action by proposing a new code for gambling adverts, aimed at protecting vulnerable groups.
